INFORMATION
Where are you located?
I am located in Charlotte, North Carolina but, I am not only limited to this area. Let’s connect and see if we can make it work!
How do I book?
The first step is a free consultation. Let’s get together and to get to know one another a bit. It’s so important to make sure that you are comfortable with the person who will be so intimately involved in this special time. We can go grab coffee or a bite to eat and spend a little quality time to make sure it’s a good fit.
Why do I need a doula?
Studies have shown that doulas can help cut back on labor time, reduce anxiety, lower the rate of medical interventions, and improve mother-baby bonding. There is so much value in having an extra layer of support during this experience. Someone who has your desires and best interest at heart with no agenda other than to make sure you feel calm, comfortable and safe. Someone who is your constant when you enter this experience of the unknown. Someone who is trained in comfort measures to help you get through those powerful moments. Someone who is always available to answer questions or calm your fears. Someone to reassure you that you were made for this and you can do it. Someone to also be there for your partner when they get tired or overwhelmed. I could go on and on, but my point is that there is SO much value in having a doula by your side.
Are doulas only for natural births?
Not at all. This is your birth, your body and your baby. I am here to educate and support you through every decision you make. My goal is to assist you in making your birth whatever it is that you desire.
What can I expect if I hire you?
I try to provide support based on the needs of each client, but typically my doula package includes one prenatal session to get to know you and your partner or support person if you will have one. This helps me understand your preferences and needs so I can provide you with the best support possible. We will meet one more time before birth so that we can create and review your birth plan as well as a short education session so you know what to expect. You will receive a handout of everything we go over. I will be on-call for you starting two weeks before your estimated due date. Once you are in active labor I will meet you wherever you feel most comfortable, home or your birth place. I will provide continual support until baby is born. During labor I provide a wide array of comfort measures that will help with your physical and emotional needs. Once baby is born I will stay up to two hours after birth. My package includes one postpartum visit which happens within two weeks of being coming home. I will come to your home and we will process your birth, transition, and experience so far. I will assist you with any further support needed. Please see pricing for additional postpartum hours.
What role will you play in my birth?
Again, I really try to tailor my support to address the unique pregnancy, labor, delivery and postpartum needs of both mother and partner. I am not there to replace the support of your birth partner, but I will be there to work alongside and provide support to both of you in whatever capacity you’re comfortable with. I will provide emotional and physical support as well as education and advocacy whenever you need me to. My primary goal is for you to have a positive experience in which you feel confident, informed, comfortable and supported.
What are your remote doula services?
I developed this level of support due to the fact that I am new to the Charlotte area and a lot of my close friends and family back in New York needed my help. With this service we will do one scheduled Skype or FaceTime session to go over your needs, preferences and childbirth education material as well as create and review your birth plan. We will do a second session where I will go over and remotely train you and your partner in comfort measures to use during labor. I will be available via phone and text whenever needed and I will answer questions and prepare you to the best of my ability. Once you are in active labor I will be available 24/7 via phone, text and video until the baby is born. I will also be available to you 6 weeks postpartum and we will do one final Skype or FaceTime session to process your birth, transition, and experience so far.
