I have a pretty unique story and I’m very excited to share it with you.
Christmas Eve 2017 my husband and I found out we were pregnant with our first child and from that moment on, everything changed. Before that I didn’t know a thing about pregnancy or labor and delivery. Actually, until I met my husband I swore up and down that I would never even have kids. So the fact that I have now left my six-figure finance job to pursue my calling of supporting and empowering women in the birth space, is a crazy turn of events to say the least.
I delivered my son Teddy at a birth center in Charlotte, NC with the support of my husband, midwives, photographer and birth doula. To this day if you tell my husband you’re having a baby he instantly responds “you HAVE to get a doula.” Having that extra layer of support for both of us every step of the way was everything we didn’t even know we needed. It is what originally inspired me to do this for other women, and each mother I help is what continues to inspire me.
I believe that we need to give women back the power in their birth experiences. They deserve to be fairly educated with all of their options and to make the choice that they feel is best for them and their baby without any interference. They deserve to be heard and supported. Overall, they deserve to feel safe and comfortable in their birth space. You may think these things are obvious, but most women don’t feel that way.
Wherever you plan to give birth, whether it’s at a hospital (medicated | un-medicated | cesarean), at a birth center or at home, I will be there every step of the way to make sure you feel all of those things. I will help answer questions and calm your fears. I will do my best to keep you calm and comfortable through one of the most raw and powerful experiences you will ever go through. I will support your partner if you have one and I will help guide you both into parenthood. I will tailor my support to do my very best to meet all of your needs. There are always so many unknowns, and whether it’s your first time or your 10th time, it can be scary, hard, emotional, and messy, but it is always beautiful.
I may not know you yet, but I have confidence in you. Your body was made to do this and no matter which way you chose to bring baby into this world, I know you can do it. This is your birth, your body and your baby. You define the right way to do it and I help you, to the best of my ability, make that dream a reality. Being a part of someone’s birth space is a privilege that I do not take lightly and I would be honored to be there for you.
